Trust Planning
Trusts can be highly effective tools for both inheritance tax planning and for practical everyday purposes. There are many different types of trust which can be simple through to very complex. There are Discretionary Trusts, Life Interest Trusts, Will Trusts, Bare Trusts, Accumulation and Maintenance Trusts, Secret Trusts and probably more. Each type of trust will be able to assist with specific issues.
In many cases these are more to do with legal issues but, as accountants, we often see trusts when related to tax and inheritance tax planning. Whilst we do not write trusts ourselves, we work closely with specialists who help us with various trust matters that affect our clients.
Once again, it is knowing what can be done and who can do it and, ultimately, making sure our clients have trusted resources available to ensure that they keep as much of their money and assets as possible and that those are directed as they wish.
