Is a Will THAT Important?

We have been meeting with a number of our clients recently where the subject of Inheritance Tax has come up. We have found that, in quite a number of instances, clients have not considered their Wills for some time and, even more disturbingly, a significant percentage of them do not have a Will at all.

At Moulton Johnson, we have experience over years of dealing with difficulties arising when someone dies Intestate (i.e. without leaving a Will) and also where Wills have been drawn up and not revised following changes in personal circumstances, or to reflect more recent legislation.

With the current financial situation and the need for the Government to keep squeezing more money out of us in tax, we will be working hard to ensure that your tax bill is as low as possible. As Inheritance Tax and Estate Planning are an important part of that strategy and as these are complex, specialised areas, we have teamed up with Allguard Legal Services to complement our own advice on financial matters. Allguard, who specialise in these areas, are managed by a highly respected and experienced Trust Lawyer who is also a Notary Public.

Allguard have already been advising us on a personal basis and we have found them positive and helpful to work with. We have asked Chris Chippendale at Allguard to note some of the most important aspects of where Allguard can help and he makes the following points:

“In providing the ‘right will’ for each client dependent on their individual circumstances there are many worrying issues that can be resolved, such as:-

• Reducing or even eliminating INHERITANCE TAX

• Protecting your Home from the unnecessary loss to CARE FEES

• Ensuring ATTORNEY documents are in place should you become ill or have an accident

• Protecting SPANISH PROPERTY using an English based service

• Minimising the cost and stress of ADMINISTRATING YOUR ESTATE

Chris Chippendale-Allguard Legal Services”

As part of our arrangements with Allguard we are able to offer our clients a free, ‘without obligation’ consultation with one of the Allguard Specialists to see whether, between us, we can continue to help you minimise potential taxes and give you the ‘peace of mind’ of knowing that you have organised your affairs in the best possible way.

If your will is out of date or you do not have one give us a call and we will arrange for Allguard to contact you to arrange a meeting.
