HMRC has announced it will delay the implementation of its business records checks (BRC) programme, following a review with trade and professional bodies' representatives.
A record 9.45 million self-assessment tax returns were filed on time this year, with a record 7.65 million (80.9 per cent) of them filed online, says HMRC.
Dr Adam Posen, a member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee, has lashed out at banks for not lending enough to small and medium-size enterprises, calling them 'reluctant risk adverse jerks'.
